I’ve struggled with moderate acne since I was 9 years old. At 27 I still have breakouts on my chin and forehead that need to be treated. During that time I’ve tried many products with varying levels of success and even seen a dermatologist to get a round of antibiotics and special creams. I’ve used Clean and Clear cleansers in the past and been pleased with the results. With that past experience in mind, I was intrigued to discover the Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Control Kit.

The kit promises big things right on the front of the box. 100% of people had results in as little as one day? That’s a bold statement for a skincare product to make, and that’s exactly what the Clean and Clear Acne Control Kit claims. At the time of my purchase I had a rather severe breakout on my chin and a larger almost-cystic pimple on my cheek. Could this kit give me noticeable improvement in such a short time?

At bedtime that night I opened my acne kit for the first time. There are three steps to the system. First is the Acne Control Cleanser, which features 10% Benzoyl Peroxide as the active ingredient. The cleanser is followed by the Acne Control Moisturizer. This is an oil-free moisturizer that contains .5% Salicylic Acid. The last step is the Fast-Clearing Spot Treatment, which relies on a formulation of 2% Salicylic Acid. The kit suggests that you use all three steps twice a day.

I started first with the cleanser. It’s creamy coming out of the tube, though mine was a bit separated on first squirt. I rinsed off the initial offerings, shook the tube and tried again. Applied to a wet face, the product is only slightly foaming. It has a strong scent something like the Clean and Clear Cream Cleanser, with a hint of menthol. The cleanser left my face tingling but feeling clean and smooth.

Next was the moisturizer. The salicylic acid in the cream makes it burn ever so slightly, especially when applied over pimples. Still, the moisturizer went on smoothly and made my freshly washed skin feel dewy and soft.
