ClearLight™ Acne Therapy Treatment

The ClearLight™ is the first medical device designed to significantly clear inflammatory acne lesions in four or five weeks –without side effects. ClearLight™ uses the innovative Acne PhotoClearing (APC) technology to destroy the most common bacteria that causes acne –quickly and easily without oral antibiotics. For the optimum results, it is necessary to have 2 treatments per week for four to five weeks. The ClearLight™ is a different wavelength than skin damaging ultraviolet light, and is thought to cause no side effects.

Advanced Treatment

ClearLight™ with Photodynamic Therapy

Advanced Skin Fitness now offers a more aggressive treatment for acne and can be completed in as little as three treatments. It’s called the ClearLight™ acne device combined with Levulan Photodynamic Therapy by DUSA . The application of DUSA Levulan Kerastick followed by the ClearLight™ Acne PhotoClearing device is one of the best alternatives to harsh medications such as accutane and antibiotics. Levulan is applied topically 30 minutes prior to the light treatment. Levulan is taken up by bacteria in the oil glands and converted into a light sensitive substance. This substance selectively absorbs the laser light, destroying the bacteria, ultimately improving acne without the side effects seen in systemic therapy and reducing the number of ClearLight™ sessions required.

Following treatment, the skin may appear slightly pink and be sensitive to sunlight for approximately 24 to 48 hours. You will be advised on post-treatment care. It is important to keep the skin protected with broad-spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 and a wide brim hat. Serious sunburn can occur following Levulan treatments.

** ClearLight™ with Photodynamic Therapy requires a one time medical directors fee of $75.

FAQs

  • What is a ClearLight™ Treatment Like?
  • What should I do between ClearLight™ Treatments?
  • Will I be Blemish-Free after my treatments?

What is a ClearLight™ Treatment Like? First, you should arrive with clean skin. Makeup must be removed prior to treatment. You will lie comfortably under a light for a period of minutes with protective goggles over your eyes. There is NO PAIN with ClearLight™, no peeling, no irritation, no restriction from sun exposure and no one will even notice you have had a treatment. If you wear makeup, it can be reapplied directly following your treatment. It’s really that simple.

What should I do between ClearLight™ Treatments? You should avoid touching or picking your blemishes at all times. In addition, use a non-irritating anti-acne cleanser such as salicylic acid daily. You will be advised of correct products and proper home care during and after your treatment.

Will I be Blemish-Free after my treatments? Though the inflammation will be gone for the majority of patients at the end of the treatment series, you may experience a redness, where the inflamed blemish was located. This redness will dissipate in a short time. It is important to remember that ClearLight™ treats only inflamed mild to moderate acne blemishes. Moderate to severe and cystic acne requires the use of Levulan combined with ClearLight™.

Acne is not a medically “curable” condition, but it is one that can be controlled and managed. You may require maintenance treatments to keep the clearing at an optimum level. This is in addition to any at-home treatment program you have been advised to use.
