Everything you need to know about the different types of acne scars
Our skin is like a fine piece of cloth cloaking valuable assets. Any burn, injury, infection, surgery or other trauma to it can cause the formation of scar tissue that can be downright ugly and uncomfortable.
Scar formation is a natural part of the healing process after injury. Various factors influence the way your skin scars. Of course, the depth and size of the wound or incision and the location of the injury are key factors that determine the scar’s characteristics. Even your age, heredity, sex or ethnicity will also affect how your skin reacts.
There are two general types of acne scars that are defined by skin tissue responses to inflammation:
1.- Acne Scars Caused by Increased Tissue Formation:
Keloid scars: They are raised, reddish nodules that develop at the site of an injury. After a wound has occurred to the skin, both skin cells and connective tissue cells (fibroblasts) begin multiplying to repair the damage. A scar is made up of ‘connective tissue’, gristle-like fibers deposited in the skin by the fibroblasts to hold the wound closed. With keloids, the fibroblasts continue to multiply even after the wound is filled in. Thus keloids project above the surface of the skin and form large mounds of scar tissue.
Hypertrophic scars: The word hypertrophy means “enlargement” or “overgrowth.” Hypertrophic scars are more common than keloids but don’t get as big, and they usually fade with time. Hypertrophic scars often respond completely to treatment, but keloids are notoriously difficult to treat. Â
2.- Â Acne Scars Caused by Loss of Tissue:
Ice pick scars: They are deep pits within the skin and are the most common type of scars left by acne.
Boxcar scars: They are angular scars that usually occur on the temple and cheeks and can be either superficial or deep; these are similar to chickenpox scars.
Rolling scars: These types of scars give the skin a wave-like appearance.
The truth is this: The scar will never completely go away, but there are some methods that can help reduce its size and appearance.
Skin remodeling & wound healing
The removal or reduction of scars or lesions from the skin depends on a process called “skin remodeling”.
The skin is designed to heal wounds quickly to prevent blood loss and infection. Scars are manufactured from a rapidly formed “collagen glue” that the body deposits into an injured area for protection and strength. In ideal skin healing, wounded skin is rapidly closed, and then the healed area is slowly reconstructed to remove the residual collagen scars and blend the skin area into nearby skin.
Scar collagen is removed and replaced with a mixture of skin cells and invisible collagen fibers. This remodeling may continue in a skin area for ten years thus fading the scar over time.
One way to accelerate remodeling is to use enzymes and fibroblast proliferators to increase the body’s natural rebuilding processes and obtain even better final results. Fibroblasts are the cells in the basal membrane of the skin, and they are the precursors of all the structural elements of healthy skin, including those that provide flexible strength and elasticity to skin. Enzymes are able to dissolve or “digest” these damaged and dying cells.
Reduce acne scars with natural skin exfoliation and renewal cream
BIOSKINEXFOL â„ is a product for the removal of hypertrophic scars. It effectively removes all types of acne scars as well, including those where there is loss of skin tissues. It helps your skin to regenerate, heal and repair itself! It is also anti-microbial, thereby helping to fight and prevent skin infections. It works great on post-surgical scars.
Topical application of this cream on acne lesions and scars regulates or decreases dermal fibroblast proliferation and excess collagen production to prevent and reduce skin tissue overgrowth.
The cream is made with a natural biological ingredient, collected from live brown garden land snails of the species known by zoologists as Crystomphalus Aspersa or Helix Aspersa MÃ ller. The same serum they use to yield QUICK REPAIR of their skin (scar less) and shell when damaged. It is naturally produced by the snails when they encounter any stressful event, and we gather it through a process that is completely safe for them. The serum is made into an odorless white cream without the use of incompatible or synthetic chemicals.
With BIOSKIN products you can start treating acne scars while acne is still active and even while you are on Accutane (isotretinoin drugs).
BIOSKINEXFOL home microdermabrasion cream acts on both types of scars while also prevents breakouts and BIOSKINFORTE helps to prevent acne scars, treat those while acne is active and is a strong acne breakouts cream that heals acne lesions (even acne cysts) and helps to prevent re-occurrence.

Home Microdermabrasion For Skin Resurfacing Of Acne Scar
A home microdermabrasion resurfacing procedure with a cream embedded with micro-crystals to quickly erase raised acne scars and if used during a longer period of time can resurface pitted acne scars for then one “sanding” after the other, little by little it achieves very significant results.
People prone to keloid scars need to be extremely careful when using abrasion methods for pimple scar removal. Any cutting of a keloid can cause further keloid growth.
BIOSKINEXFOL is a Home Microdermabrasion Cream that combines the most balanced and complete skin regenerating serum with the same physical exfoliating or abrading micro-crystals used by doctors’ offices and estheticians’ salons.
Microdermabrasion is a manual process whereby skin is exfoliated with gentle physical abrasives. When such exfoliation is followed or done with a cream that contains skin renewal activators skin resurfacing is optimal for it stimulates collagen growth and cellular regeneration thereby improving skin tone and sagging, reduction of imperfections and blemishes and a healthy refreshed skin.
Results are achieved without the slightest inflammation, peeling and no dryness. On the contrary, while “signaling†to your body that it is being taken care of properly and does not need to react with inflamm-aging, while also moisturizing the skin deeply and triggering healthy skin regeneration, the removal of dull dead cells and abnormal scars and imperfections and the release of amino-acids that help rebuild damaged tissues quickly.
The process continues within the skin beyond the moment you massage the cream for it contains natural messenger molecules that recognize healthy cells from damaged cells that act in concert with enzymes to dissolve or “digest” non functional, damaged and worn out cells deep within the skin. This explains why BIOSKINEXFOL works so well for old and rough Acne Scars, for those are scar tissues deep within the skin.
BIOSKINEXFOL is the best home microdermabrasion cream for it also signals your body it does not need to react to the skin damage being inflicted by the micro-crystals abrasion with an inflammatory or inflammaging reaction.
And it is the only such product that contains enzymes that continue to dissolve, digest or break down senescnet cells, problem proteins and debris from accumulated damage to the skin matrix that the body cannot handle. All the proteins inside our cells are destroyed and rebuilt quite regularly, as a way to keep them in a generally undamaged state. Point is to treat acne scars the destroyed proteins in the skin need to be degraded into their component amino-acids and released for use in rebuilding healthier skin structures, otherwise they are not part of the solution for they become triggers of chronic inflamm-aging.
Exfoliate Rough Acne Scars Away With BIOSKINEXFOL
Home microdermabrasion cream. Contains the same natural ingredients in BIOSKINCARE but infused with micro-crystals so that you may rub it with your finger tips to remove old, hard, and tough scars or stretch marks by a physical breakdown of the scar tissues. Best also for oily skin and aged skin, actinic keratosis scales, pitted acne scars.
Not for keloids and not if your skin is still fragile (use BIOSKINCARE for a few months first to strengthen your skin).
Enzymes in the cream liquefy damaged proteins more thoroughly helping to release amino-acids to aid in rebuilding damaged tissues quickly. Results are not only immediate, but compound over time and do not trigger inflamm-aging of delicate skin tissues.
Relief of side effects of isotretinoin drugs
BIOSKINCAREâ„ has a two fold effect: (1) Purifies the cells & decongests tissues as it helps to eliminate waste, toxins, and all damaged structures. (2) Favors cellular regeneration.
It leaves your skin smooth, refreshed, soft and with use over a period of time it takes away all imperfections and blemishes: acne, scars, keratosis bumps, razor nicks and burns, actinic keratosis lesions, roughness, dryness, ezcema, dermatitis, the effects on the skin of radiotherapy for cancer, blisters, scrapes, cuts, and the list can go on and on… It spectaculary brightens and enhances the complexion.
It is also recommened for use in conjunction with Accutane (isotretinoin) to relieve the undesired side effects on the skin of such drugs.
