postheadericon Methods of getting rid of blemishes from popping pimples?

Kyu, the best way to fight those dark spots starts long before you even have the pimple – prevention! ;-)

Get super serious about your skin care regimen and be faithful about it’s use. If the Proactiv isn’t cutting it, try something else. Perhaps a glycolic or salicylic acid based product along with benzoyl peroxide. Comedones start forming often times months before we see the eruptions and by then it’s too late, we’re desitined to see some kind of scarring (small or large) and the damage is done. I hate to contradict other “answerers”, but sun just ADDS to the problem by hyperpigmenting these spots or darkening the scarring, producing dark spots on the face. Severe cases can have large dark scarring on the back, arms, chest as well.

What does this mean? SUNSCREEN. Especially if you’re using something to lighten your pigment you MUST use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or above. You might also try dotting your dark spots with your lightening product for a while before spreading it over your entire face. Lighten those spots a little so that when you start spreading it over your entire face, you’ll see an “even lightening” instead of just lighter skin and lighter spots.

Microdermabrasion is very helpful in clearing up acne scarring as is, chemical peels but be very careful in who you go to and how deep the peel is. As you have ethnic skin you may be prone to keloid so I would recommend lighter peels (enzymatic peels like papaya, pumpkin, etc. and glycolic not to exceed 40%, salicylic is always a good choice for acne). Often times peels and microdermabrasion are a great compliment for one another but only by a licensed and trained esthetician.

If you have any questions you can drop me an email but find a sunscreen that you love and that works for you and that should help & get on board with skin care 2X daily.

Good luck! LR
